I think my ReplayTV 3060 is dead.
I have it and my 5040 hooked up with a video switch and when I turned my TV on today I could hear a constant sound repeating every half second.
I used the A/V switcher to change to other inputs and I could still hear the sound on all inputs! But the sound on the 3060 input was much louder.
Neither of my Replays were working, but I was able to reboot my 5040 and it was working again (but I could still hear the 1/2 second sound in the background). Not so for the 3060.
It had no lights, so I disconnected the power (the 1/2 second sound stopped) and waited a few minutes and reconnected, nothing. Except for that loud sound every 1/2 second started up again. This sound starts up as soon as I plug it in.
Does anyone have any advice as to what the problem could be? Does it sound like the power supply? Then main board?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

As suggested I re posted my question in this section of the forum.
Hello, First time poster here.
I currently have a cruddy TW cable dvr (SA - 8240 HDC) and would like to upgrade to a Tivo. One issue I am having with my current DVR is playing back on my 24" monitor. It does not support DCHP, but does have DVI inputs that support analog/digital dvi.
My xbox 360 plays very well on it via HDMI>DVI . Due to DCHP that cable doesnt work with the DVR.
I also have a cable with dvi on one end and the component on the other. I assumed this would work with the TW cable box….but no luck. I’m not sure it’s recognizing it on startup
Will I be able to use the tivo with a Component>DVI ??? Im not sure why my current DVR doesnt work but i’m about to get a female>female rca adapter and try to hookup my xbox via the component/DVI adapeter to see if it works.

Is there anything I can do to get a very good quality screen capture directly off of my HD TiVo? I’d really rather not have to spend the time to transfer the program to my computer and screen capture from there. I’d also like to be able to take snapshots of things like my Season Pass list, wish lists, etc.

I just bought a used DSR708 receiver, but the remote didn’t come with it. I have several peanut remotes and one white DTV remote, but none of them seem to automatically work with the DSR708. I tried codes 01142 amd 01442 with the white remote, but it didn’t work. I also couldn’t find a manual on programming a peanut remote with a receiver (which I would prefer to use). FYI the only reason I have one of the white remotes is because it came as a bonus with an R10 I bought a while back.
Thanks in advance!

I know this is something that a little experimentation and searching should be able to solve, but I have a time limit, and so far my searches have only turnd up partial solutions.
I’m trying to figure out how to stream a somewhat large iTunes playlist (about 700 songs, 3GB worth) from a Mac to an S2 TiVo and play the playlist in random order.
Can I do this in TD, or can I use pyTivo, Galleon, or another HME app for this?
Thanks,
Dylan

Our TiVoHD stays on constantly with 9.3a OS. I have searched through the forums and not found an answer to the specific reboot problems I encounter. I have an extra 250gb external SATA drive which I connected and synced with the included drive but our TiVoHD would reboot before and after I added this drive.
Our reboots are not at all random, in fact they are VERY specific. The TiVo will stay on and work properly until we turn on the AV Receiver (which feeds the HDMI to the TV). We previously feed the HDMI directly to the TV with the same results. This happens about 25% of the time when turning on the TV / AV Receiver. We usually do this with a Harmony remote but have had the same result when turning on the TV and AV Receiver manually. The Receiver is a Yamaha 663 and the TV is a Sony KDS-50A2000. All the devices work properly independently and the TiVoHD is the only problem in the system.
I am not sure if others have not noticed this correlation but when turning on the TV / Receiver the TiVoHD will stop recording, freeze at a black screen (the initial part of the restart process) and then show that the TiVo is powering up. This is extremely frustrating and I am reluctant to pull the added drive out and send this TiVoHD back but I suppose I have no other option at this point as our entire household is fed up with this issue. I suppose this is some hardware level HDMI handshaking issue but I fail to understand why turning on an HDMI device would cause the TiVo to reboot. Any ideas or possible solutions?

Why does Cat call Tabitha "Tabither"? Must be the British way of saying it.
Twitch and Kherington, Joshua and Katee are both safe. I’m not surprised at all.
Matt and Kourtni are in the bottom 3, Gev and Courtney are also in the bottom 3 for the first time I think, Mark and Chelsi are safe.
Will and Jessica are safe, Thayne and Comfort are in the bottom 3.
Man that Robin guy who backed out in the Las Vegas auditions sure can contort himself and is awesome. He might do a dance off with Phillip someone didn’t catch his name.
Courtney is safe, Comfort is safe, Kourtni is going home.
Thayne is safe, Gev is safe, Matt is going home.

I have a series 2 tivo and directtv. My wife likes to record The View and Oprah. On occasion it doesn’t go to local channel 9 but records another channel. However, on the info screen it says it’s on channel 9. When I went there today it was recording something on channel CW. I stopped the recording and deleted the partial file. When I went to look at live TV the Oprah show was on, not channel CW. I only have 1 tuner. That has happened a few times before which is really strange.
Anyone have the same problem or know any workaround?
Thanx
John

My copy of Tivo Desktop 2.5 started giving me errors about the server not being started. I decided to stop trying to fix the problem and upgrade to the new version (2.6.1). After setting it up I transfered a file from my Tivo to my computer successfully just to try it out. The next day I went downstairs to my Tivo and tried to access the music I had previously set to share. I went to the photo, music and more section and went down and saw my computer. I wondered why it was listed as Photo but ignored it. It took a while to load then said HTTP error (0×50005). After researching this error I decided to remove it from the tivo list. I added my IP address as a server (192.168.1.101) then went to view my music. It said no server found at this location and to make sure that the server is running nd that files were published using Tivo pushlisher. From what I have read, Tivo publisher is only for Windows Home Server which shouldn’t apply to TIvo Desktop and Windows XP
I have tried basic things like rebooting, restarting the server (on my computer) the router, the tivo and nothing has fixed it. I know that this is the correct IP address and that Tivo desktop is running and is set to share with all tivos on my network. I can transfer from Tivo to Tivo, Tivo to computer, but not computer to Tivo. Computer to Tivo worked before Tivo desktop started giving me errors, just FYI.
My Tivo Series 2 is currently connected to my network using the Tivo branded network adapter running software version 9.3. Tivo desktop is 2.6.1 and is being run on a Windows XP SP3 machine. I get no issues from my firewall about the Tivo trying to connect in either direction.
Thanks for all help, I can obviously provide more information if needed.
